Rob Pizem - A Year in Review 2010

Image from Google By Rob Pizem It was another busy year for me and my family. I was fortunate enough to stay safe and healthy for most of it. The year began knowing that my wife was going to be completing her teaching degree and that we would be looking for work where ever we could find it. Jane, who is always ready for an adventure, was excited for a possible move from Denver to anyplace USA. By late March, we had each secured jobs teaching high school in Grand Junction, Colorado. The excitement grew as our house went up

Image from Google Mrs. Mesa will be melting away the pounds soon, but last weekend she was still fat and gorgeous. Western Slope climbers Jason Adams and Matt Cova put in an epic 14-mile, 13-hour effort on Saturday to reach this classic ice route atop Grand Mesa. The two climbers, along with Douglas Lossner, who did the first [...]

Mr. and Mrs. Mesa

Two of the wildest and most difficult water-ice pitches in the state are in plain view from Highway 50, en route to Ouray and Telluride from points north, plunging down the sheer face of Grand Mesa. Yet few people notice them, and far fewer have climbed them. The routes are tough, to be sure, but [...]
