from 2010 Mountaineering Season
He really did do more than eat potato chips and surf the web. We are saying goodbye to Jack today. He's been around here the last few months...taking a mountaineering course, digging holes, hauling dirt and other duties as assigned...climbing Denali and now he's off for greener (warmer?) pastures in the Lower 48. Safe travels and have fun...from the AMS crew.

Bruce Miller and I spent nine days on Longs Peak between July 27 and August 26 establishing a new free route (not yet named) up the center of the Diamond. We climbed the first four pitches of the Enos Mills Wall (V 5.11 A3), already freed at 5.10, with a short new leftward traverse to a stance. We then added a new 45-foot face traverse pitch that climbs leftward into a prominent right-facing corner on Jack of Diamonds (V 5.10c A4). We added two bolts and one pin on this 5.11+ traverse. The route overhangs

Next Monday marks the start of the 2010 Badwater Ultramarathon , and iconic race amongst the endurance crowd. The 135 mile route runs from the heart of Death Valley, one of the hottest places on the planet, up tothe Portals on Mt. Whitney, gaining 8580 feet in the process. This is one of the toughest footraces on the planet, and the athletes will run for hours on end to cover the distances. Since coming back home from England, I have just been training training training! Good for me because I'm feeling strong and fit, but bad for you because its even more boring for you to read about it, than it is for me to write about it, than it is to actually do it! So today I thought I would write a little about the other little adventurous journey I have been taking - that of becoming a better free-skier :) I began skiing a few years ago after being what I would call a competent snowboarder (by that i

So, I just spent a week and half in Bishop testing the new prototypes (5 made in all) with the Asana Team. We compiled a bunch of great feedback that will only make the pad better. I will spare you the details for now, until we have the next prototype finished next week. Then you can see the changes for yourself. We have improvements being made to nearly every element of the pad, really dialing it in. I'd say that our first prototype was about 85% of the way there. The last 15% is coming from fine tuned
