As they flew in a few groups have been coming out of the mountains. Nick D'Alessio, Brian Skean and Noah Ronczowski's 6/5 Kahiltna Dome/Denali Prep group flew down this afternoon after a short

Image from Google Here is a photo taken from 11K (where Josh Hoeschen and his team are) and Kahiltna Dome in the background. Nick called in from Kahiltna Pass a bit ago. They are camped at approx. 10,000 feet. Their crew is doing really well. They travelled up to camp in a whiteout today. At times they could not see the wands in front of them. The weather mellowed out a bit since they arrived in camp. Right now it was a little hazy and light winds but overall pretty good. They are hoping for good weather tomorrow for their

Teams in the Field

Dome Summit

Image from Google 5:00 pm Update: Melis and team just called in from the summit of Kahiltna Dome where the weather and view are spectacular. They will head down shortly and make their way safely back to the Kahiltna Glacier for their Friday pick up. The September Mountaineering Courses are great for no crowds, less overflights and the possibility of Northern Lights; which this group has been able to to see some of the evenings.

The Last Hurrah of the Season

Kahiltna Dome as seen from 11,000 feet on the West Buttress route. Melis and gang from the 12 Day Mountaineering course are continuing to have a blast. The weather has been gorgeous; it is hot and sunny on the glacier. Some folks are sleeping outside under the stars! They are presently camped at the base of Ski Hill (7,900) on the West Butress route. They are thinking about climbing Kahiltna Dome (12,525 ft) if the conditions are right. WOW! Blogger Laura

Plant watering day

We are finally getting some much-needed rain in Talkeetna. The Kahiltna Dome (Greg, Matt team) and the 6-day Mountaineering Course (Joe, Beth team) groups are making use of our dry shelters for practice with knots, ropes, fixed line ascension and the like. It's about 43 degrees, so we're keeping the warm drinks going. The wild roses are in full bloom as are the columbine and other flowers. They seem to be enjoying this moisture. We've heard from Kirby Senden today, I think Rob said they were at 11,000 ...
