The lower graded snow gullies are still complete although some narrow areas are soft with significant rock fall risk. Turf is no longer frozen. The snow is dense and generally well bonded. Snow cover is depleting on exposed plateau areas.

Today was the first morning there was ice on the puddles for several days. Walking into Lochnagar today it was difficult to believe it was only five days ago that we skied to the top from the Glen Muick car park. There is now very little snow low down though cover on the plateau looks good still. Parallel A is still complete. In the corrie the snow in the shade had a crust on it but in many places we were breaking through to deep granular snow below. We saw no one climbing today. The Black Spout. (On the

Headed up to try to see Lochnagar today but by the time we got to the coll, the snow storm had started. Plenty of fresh snow and Southerly winds above 600m. Underfoot conditions are pretty poor, even on skis. 10 points to the pair who managed to walk all the way to the top of the land rover track before giving up!

It was a hard walk into Lochnagar today. The way out was a bit easier as all the lower footpath ice was turning to slush. No rain to talk off and it was still just about freezing when I was up there. Hopefully it'll be a better day tomorrow. From what I could see the lower rocks were a bit black but there is some reasonable looking ice around.
