We've added a new Denali West Buttress expedition starting May 8 to May 28th. Full West Rib Expedition: We've changed our Upper West Rib to a Full West Rib. This expedition will depart the main Kahiltna at 7,800 feet and turn up the seldom visited NE fork of the Kahiltna. Finally after two weeks of rain, the sun is back. It is a beautiful day with a crisp coolness to the air. Autumn is scratching at the door. We have five more courses this season–three mountaineering courses, a Glacier Travel and Crevasse Rescue workshop and our Denali Photography Workshop . There is room on all but the upcoming 12 day mountaineering course. Travis and Erin improving the AMS garden. Our Denali season may be over but our Mountaineering Courses go through September. Guides Forest Wagner and Noah Ronczkowski are psyched to be going to the Eldridge Glacier for twelve days of fun, learning and climbing. They may call in to update us but we don't expect it. Mike Janes and his whole crew headed to the bottom of ski hill today, 7800'. I heard from a couple of our guides that took a quick trip to the base of ski hill that the trail and lower glacier were in good condition. The were in base camp all day doing skills review and learning lots of the skills necessary to safely and efficiently travel on the glacier. Today after having car problems I had a late start a went up onto the Ballachulish Horseshoe. I went up the West ridge of Sgorr Bhan which had some nice little steps, probably went at about grade 1. Several other teams on the ridge doing mountaineering courses, after passing these, I didn't see anyone as I walked over to Sgorr Dhearg (1024m) and then onto Sgorr Dhonull (1001m). I headed down into Gleann a Chaolais. Stunning day on the tops. Saw some fresh hoar crystals forming a new layer!!

We have nearly 2" of snow on the ground here in T-town, and the temp was 3 degrees when I came to work this morning. It was a beautiful, sunny day! There is a winter storm warning in effect for tomorrow, cold and lots of snow, especially north of here. Nearly everyone here feels we are overdue for snow.
