Our pit today was rather soggy and water logged at ground level. Mild conditions with maximum gusts of 137 mph on Cairngorm summit. Gale force winds over Cairngorm summit. If you listen carefully you can just about hear the distant ring of Santa's sleigh bells!

Here's a view today from near Cairn Leuchan to Lochnagar and Glen Muick. Last week the Search and Rescue Dog Association (SARDA), Lakes District held their annual week long training exercise based at Norwegian Lodge and in the north Cairngorms. These are a very dedicated group who train their dogs to a high standard for avalanche search work and other search profiles. The conditions this year were excellent. These two hounds are ready to go. Search dog and handler at work. Success, a very welcome sight.
