Enzo Oddo Repeats La Rambla Original (5.15a)

Image from Google 16-year-old French phenom Enzo Oddo has climbed yet another 5.15 with his repeat of La Rambla original in Siurana, Spain.  The route was first climbed before Oddo was even born by Alex Huber to a stopping point 3/4 up the wall, and it was subsequently extended by Ramón Julián Puigblanque.  The accepted grade for this route [...] Enzo Oddo Repeats La Rambla Original (5.15a) from Climbing Narcissist Become a fan of ClimbingNarc.com on Facebook Related posts: Possible 5.15a FA By Enzo Oddo Patxi Usobiaga

Another 9a+ for Oddo

Image from Google Enzo Oddo, still only 16, has made the first ascent of La moustache qui fâche a project bolted by Yann Ghesquier, just left of Toni Lamiche's San ku Kaï at Entraygues. The meat of the steep route boils down to a stack of three boulder sections without rest. Enzo says he thinks it must be a 9a+ as it is much harder than Condé de choc and San Ku Kaï, two 9a's Enzo had already done on the same crag. This is Enzo's third 9a+ after Biographie at Céüse last year and Aubade direct at the...

Oddo makes 4th ascent of Ambrosia

Enzo Oddo has made the 4th ascent of kevin Jorgeson's Ambrosia on the Grandpa peabody at the Buttermilks near Bishop, California. Since Kevin's first ascent, both Alex Honnold and Isaac Caldiero have refined the method of climbing this ~14m monster of a highball. This has made the grade come down slightly from 8A+ to 8A, but what separates this from many other high boulder problems is that the climbing is difficult with big and committing moves all the way to the bitter end. According to...

Abyss by Oddo, 9a #4

Enzo Oddo, still 14, has repeated Abyss , 9a, in the Gorges du Loup. Because of the tropical conditions during the day, he had to wait for the humidity to decrease and better temps to arrive. This was Enzo's 4th 9a since the beginning of August. Both dave and Enzo confirms the grade, although they say it's not quite as hard as PuntX . Photo: Enzo Oddo on Abyss, 9a, by Phil Maurel . 9a now a path?

Image from Google Recent happenings of late would suggest that the grade of 9a in Europe (Australian 35) is now 'a path'. Cases in point: First to hit the headlines was Patxi Usobiaga who, after watching Adam Ondra redpoint Hades (9a), jumped on the route, went bolt to bolt, and with Ondra's running beta then redpointed it. The 15m power-endurance Hades was previously one of the hardest open projects in the Tyrol prior to its first ascent by the Bindhammer brothers in 2008. Patxi is well known having been the first person

3rd 9a for Enzo Oddo

Those of us who thought Adam Ondra was the ultimate whizz-kid of climbing, well perhaps we need to think again, cause last week 14-year-old Enzo "Zozo" Oddo climbed his 3rd 9a in less than 2 weeks! 28 Aug: SanKuKaï , 9a, 3rd ascent (after Gabri Moroni) 4 Sept: PuntX , 9a 9 Sept: ChochoLocco , 9a, 2nd ascent ChochoLocco, at Carros, was an old Axel Franco project, bolted back in the 90s, that was first done by Cedric Lo Piccolo in the fall of 2007. At this pace, Zozo will soon run out of hard routes unless
