Antarctica 2011: Felicity At The Pole!

On her Twitter feed , Felicity announced that she arrived at approximately 4:00 PM amidst nearly a complete whiteout conditions. Polar Bear Cam Brings Cuddly Carnivores Into Our Living Room

I'm a sucker for great wildlife videos, but even more so when they're actually streaming live. The video below is sent back to us from live cameras aboard a Tundra Buggy in Churchill, Manitoba. The buggy goes out each and every day looking for polar bears and other animal that wander the area. I was tipped off to this live cam by reader Alan Curr, who discovered it on National Geographic's site , who recommend watching it between 7:00 AM and 4:30 PM, or generally when the sun is up. If you don't see any

Window Shopper V12?

Image from Google I had recently been going through a drought of sorts in bouldering, focusing on unproductive projects that were draining my energy. A hint of things beginning to turn around popped up when I was able to start linking up European Human Being last week, actually falling off the last move from the start. A cool day last week but not much time meant a quick visit to Flagstaff Mountain where I haven't climbed in months. Though it was bit warm at first, warming up felt OK and as the sun went down the conditions

Peak of Summer, it is cool in AK!

Image from Google We are enjoying the peak of summer here before the berries ripen, the fireweed blossoms reach the tops of the stalks and the leaves start to turn yellow. It all happens so fast! The strawberries are ripe (home grown) and blueberries (wild) are just starting to ripen. Temps are cool, especially at night. Part of the AMS Family, enjoying a beautiful, warm day in Talkeetna. Pictured are: Lisle, Caitlin, Colby, Rob Laura. Looking to escape the heat index ? Come to Alaska! Grab some lemonade and check out these

Denali : Lower Mountain Update

Image from Google AMS teams lead by guides Mike Hamill and Larry Holmgren, and Aaron Mainer and Tye Gimenez arrived back in Talkeetna at 9:00 pm last night - welcome back guys, great work up there. When I last saw them, they were very happily eating pizza, wearing flip flops and drinking beer. The Anderson 6/13 Team is moving to base camp tonight / this morning and we are looking forward to seeing them in Talkeetna in a few hours, that is, if the weather remains clear. We have piles of watermelon and other treats for them.

Vacation New Hampshire, Day 1!

Image from Google It's not often that I can say this, but the drive to Pawtuckaway went off without a hitch ! We left our house at 5:15 am and arrived at the park well before 2 pm. Both kids were loaded into the truck without fuss and they both fell back to sleep for quite a while before waking up for the day. They were still in their pajamas, and clothes were handy for the first "awake" rest stop. We managed to get to the last food/fuel stop in NJ before they woke up - quite a feat! Wehad a cooler of drinks and snacks ...
