Restricted climbing

Yesterday was looking wet and drizzly so Blair and I met up with Calum and and Phil for some sport climbing at LPT over on the Great Orme. I climbed Kaffe Fasset (6b) to warm up then had a couple of goes on Ive Been a Bad Bad Boy (7c+) before heading up to the cave for some bouldering. Today John and I headed over to Gogarth to climb some routes which are usually banned due to bird restrictions. We started off by abbing into Mousetrap Zawn and climbed Mouse Trap (E2 5b) A fantastic route with some amazing

Summit Plan Updates – Fin Race is Cancelled

Image from Google The situation on the south side of Everest continues to be quite fluid. I have confirmed Phil Crampton of Altitude Junkies' update that Ann-Marie will NOT attempt the summit during this narrow window. Phil had already kept the rest of his team back at base camp. They are planning on using the longer weather window in the forecast about a week from now. The situation is simply too dangerous according to Phil.

Minor Rant, Major Language Warning: Ticketmaster Sucks

Note: This post has absolutely nothing to do with climbing and is filled with bad words. Lots of f-bombs, but nothing like the 292 in The Big Lebowski. If you’re having a cheery day and want something upbeat, click here instead. All the dude wanted was his rug back. And all Phil, my brother-in-law, and [...]

Celebrity, Calmity and a Call Out

Whod of thought that whilst I type this Kate rubs legs Silverton would be sat in Petes Eats talking about her three peaks challenge. She hasnt had an easy ride though as along with Phil Help the Heroes Packer, attempted to summit Ben Nevis, but were turned back by Blizzard Conditions and Thong deep snow. [...]

Lake District Photos

Image from Google Hi Alan, Thanks for the Newsletter and the stunning photos. What a great start to the winter! Wednesday before Christmas was a super day for a quick tour over the Cumbria / Durham border. Boxing Day was a day of two halves down here. In the morning we managed to catch the soggy end of a good run of cold and snowy weather - semi frozen turf low down in Nethermost Cove and deep drifts. In the afternoon the sun came out for the mass ascent of Blencathra. All we need now is some of your really low temperatures

Daniel Woods talks about KinematiX

There's an interview over at Nice-climb where Daniel Woods talks about his KinematiX -experience, his first 9a. I just have to comment Phil's "Vous avez remarqué que l'été continue?" Well Phil, this morning when I checked the termometer, it read "-0,1"... Is that what you call summer? No complaining though, cause it means the sticky conditions have arrived. It's Rocktober finally! Photo: Daniel Woods, by Phil Maurel

Phil Schaal on Jade (new info)

I'm not sure if I got this right, but judging from what Phil says on his blog , it looks like he just walked up there and dispatched Jade Nalle -style. Damn! New info: Turns out it was his third day on it " but my second day was too hot to work the move.". Still incredibly fast work. Damn! Photo: Phil doing the crux 2nd move.
