Looking over towards Beinn Mheadhoin from the SE side of Cairngorm just before the bad weather arrived. Looking towards the fords of Avon Drifting at 800m as wind and snowfall on Southerly winds arrived during the early afternoon.

Trying to find Lochnagar

Headed up to try to see Lochnagar today but by the time we got to the coll, the snow storm had started. Plenty of fresh snow and Southerly winds above 600m. Underfoot conditions are pretty poor, even on skis. 10 points to the pair who managed to walk all the way to the top of the land rover track before giving up!

Change in the Air!

Coire an tt Sneachda slab cracking underfoot very easily - !! New windslab is very weak as it is forming onto buried surface hoar which is pretty evident when you travel around as it will crack and block away underfoot. The new weather system of southerly winds which will be gale force form sunday evening will drift new slab onto the surface hoar in many areas, so be wary of any new slab , and have a great day working off the turkey !!

Cold, Clear and Windless

Looking toward Carn Etchachan A rare day of no wind and great conditions for skiing and climbing - but with a reminder from the mountain gods at the end of the day when the wind turned Southerly with snow - a reminder not to be complacent - all change tomorrow with Southerly winds pushing new snow onto Northerly aspects - keep a look out!
