A few weeks back Outside Online hosted a very successful, and fun, online premiere for the mountaineering film Cold . The event was so well received in fact, that they have now decided to screen an independently produced documentary once a month on their website, with the second film debuting tomorrow night. That film will be the backcountry skiing movie Solitaire by Nick Waggoner and featuring skiersKim Havell and Stephan Drake. The screening will begin at 6PM Mountain Standard Time, and an online QA ...

The mountaineering film Cold has been getting a lot of positive buzz lately, picking up awards at various festivals and earning climber/filmmaker Cory Richards recognition as one of Nat Geo's Adventurers of the Year . The film follows Richards, along with climbers Simone Moro and Dennis Urubko, as they make the first winter ascent of Gasherbrum II, an 8035 meter (26,362 ft) peak located in Pakistan, hence the title "Cold." Now, the film is set to make its online debut thanks to Outside Magazine . Tomorrow

Our new film, ‘ The Long Hope ’ is now available on DVD and HD download. The Long Hope DVD, Cover photo by Lukasz Warzecha, design by Ifan Bates We had a great time at the premiere last week, with a sold out theatre at the Kendal Mountain Film Festival. Folk seem to really enjoy it. It was great to be over hearing so many positive comments in the bar all weekend at Kendal… Not that we spent all weekend in the bar… just most of it! A new Everest documentary entitled 40 Days at Base Camp , made its debut at the Vancouver International Film Festival last week, and will headline the Banff Mountain Film Festival next week. By all accounts, it is a gripping look at what happens on the mountain during a typical climbing season. Evidently, the film must be something special, as filmmaker Dianne Whelan has already been commissioned to return to Everest next spring to shoot an 8-part reality series on the North Side of the mountain. The show

October 2011 Expedition to Kyzyl Asker, Himalaya, September 2011 After my last two previous failed expedition attempts with Thomas Senf and Wolfgang Russegger to the "Red Soldier", the 5842 meter high Mount Kyzyl Asker , in late fall of 2010, I knew I'd go back to try again. I traveled for the second time to the remote mountain range Kookshal Too, of Thien Shan, in Kyrgyzstan. Our goal: to ascend the South-East face of Mount Kyzyl Asker. Tried by many alpinists, without a successful ascent so far. I would

I've written about the Mongol Rally numerous times on this blog. It's the annual road rally that begins in London, and various other European cities, and covers 10,000+ miles, before ending in Ulaanbaatar, the capitol of Mongolia. Along the way, the teams cross vast deserts, snowcapped mountain ranges, and miles of lonely road. One of the teams involved in the 2011 edition of the race blogged their experience at ReturnOfTheYak.com , and is now in the process of making a documentary of their travels. You'll

My friends over at the Joy Trip Project posted this video yesterday, but it is too beautiful not to pass along and share here as well. It is the trailer for a new ski/snowboard film from Sweetgrass Productions called Solitaire, which debuted last night in Denver, Colorado. It is yet another example of some of the amazing work that is being done by adventure filmmakers across the globe, and its images inspire not only adventure, but also a need to hit the slopes. In the immortal words of author George R.R.
