Book Review: 10: Celebrating Ten Years of the Tour d'Afrique Bicycle Race and Expedition

Image from Google It has been nearly six years since I started writing this blog, and back in those early days I was still finding my voice and deciding what it exactly was that I wanted to write about. I knew that I loved travel and adventure, in all of its many forms, and I wanted to share that passion with anyone who might happen to wander by my little slice of the web. There were oh so many expeditions and travel options to be discovered along the way and continually came across a host of amazing things that I didn't

The British Invasion

Last weekend I had the chance to take out the UK's current rock stars, Tom Randall and Pete Whittaker, to a place in the desert which boasts a very high concentration of sandstone roof crack routes and boulder problems. The climbs vary from thin fingers to massive off-widths and can be up to 50 meters long! Needless to say, they were very excited to get the tour and I was excited to take them back to my old stomping grounds and to a left over project or two. Tom and Pete (aka the "Wideboyz") had just come

Kalymnos 2011 - Trip Report 8 (Arhi, SG and the GG)

ARHI For our dose of vitamin D on day three we headed to Arhi. The left-side was in the sun at 9:30am when we arrived but temps were low, and the group punched out some long slabs up to 40m (!!) in length which required lowering off in two stages. I like this one. Komak 6a+ gets a musical note (i.e. the highest quality rating) in the guide and hence was on Susy's ticklist so we made a beeline to check it out. Lowering off Komak Owen runs up Komak. That blue is unphotoshopped. Cracker of a day :) That right

Outside Has The Cure For The Post TdF Blues!

Image from Google With the 2011 Tour de France in the books, it is easy to let a post-race malaise set in as we wait patiently for 2012 to get here so we can cheer on our favorite riders once again. This is the time that we console ourselves with our own long rides while day dreaming about our own days in the Yellow Jersey. Fortunately, the post-Tour cycling coverage over at Outside Online can help ease the pain of not getting our daily fix of Paul Sherwen and Phil Liggett. First up, Outside says that we can fight our ...
