A bit of Cycling history, by Stevie Haston

Stopping at a local pushbike shop to satisfy my love of fondling tubes and suchlike on a fancy swank velocipede, I was struck more than ever by the magic of bikes. It didn’t help of course that these bikes were Lapierre, sponsor for the last French team in the Tour. Lapierre bikes are works of art, I can’t afford one, but the guy doesn’t mind me coming in and dribbling over them. Anyway after this reverie of pleasantness it was out, and go climbing! But as a last delay I stopped off to put a few ...

Motivated for Winter (again)

Image from Google Yesterday Johann and I had a lazy start up to Aonach Mor with the plan to climb Stirling Bridge, a Steve Kennedy route I've been keen to try for a long time. When we walked in the weather was crap but slowly it cleared while I was climbing and it turned out to be a stunning day. As it turned out the conditions for getting gear wasn't perfect and I never judged the kit I would need very well so we lowered off a few battered wires, next time though. I was expecting to be pissed of but wasn't at all, was ...

No news for you

Image from Google Sorry all, but no news whatsoever for you at the moment due to the fact that nobody including myself is going out. It has rained most of the week here in N.Wales with warm temps of up to 12c. No real cold weather or snow forecast for the next few days from what I can see. Possibility of -1 to -3 high up from monday night for a couple of days, but its not looking good. The only concilation is that Scotland is crap at the moment too, so no need to be jealous! I will be out climbing in Snowdonia on monday &

Alaska-Yukon Expedition: Insights From Andrew

Image from Google As I mentioned a few days ago, Andrew Skurka finished up his 4700-mile long Alaska-Yukon Expedition last Sunday, but he hadn't posted anything to the National Geographic Adventure blog with his final thoughts yet. I suspect those final thoughts are still coming, as it'll take some time for him to reflect on his accomplishment, but yesterday he did post a few quick, and rather amusing, thoughts. You can read the latest entry to the blog by clicking here . In the post, Andrew shares his thoughts on what his

Friday Highlights

There are two things you need to know about today Revolution has the least updated and most incredible blog EVER.  Clark is a mad man / genius and he does not give a crap about anything except making the best gear for passionatly devoted boulderers.  The highlight from the most recent blog post is a [...]

Adam Campbell Wins Knee Knacker Trail Race

A Race Report from Adam Campbell Like most newcomers to Vancouver, I have always been amazed how the North Shore mountains rise out of the Pacific and form an imposing, yet spectacular wall behind Vancouver's downtown core of glass buildings. The (in)famous trails that scar the slopes of the peaks have gained an international reputation and have redefined what is possible on mountain bikes, with steep, gnarly trails and the mountains have become the playground of many an outdoor athlete across the seasons.

Jonathan Siegrist Get Out and Get er Done

Image from Google An essay by Jonathan Siegrist Rock Climbing is a powerful and exciting vehicle for travel. Sooner or later practically every climber will be drawn away from their home, to a far away land in search of adventure and fresh stone to play on. Great rock lures us climbers all across the globe and into unique landscapes and remote areas that we would likely never have the chance to experience otherwise. Indeed, this very aspect of climbing is much of why I love the pursuit so much.. however, traveling also ...

Bear Peak run/hike

Yesterday (6/23) I did a quick run/hike up Bear Peak via Fern Canyon. This is a standard (and excellent) hike in Boulder and is certainly the steepest trail in the area, climbing about 2800' over just 2.8 miles (1000 ft/mile or averaging a 19% grade!!!). It was a beautiful day out, but a bit hot so I waited until 6:40 to hit the trail and I still overheated quite a bit in the beginning of the hike. I felt like crap most of my way up the canyon until I got up higher and started cooling off a bit. I'm ...

High Season...

Getting back to Boulder all I can think of is getting up to Evan's and RMNP. This could be my 6th season and even though I don't have much left I still cant wait to get up there. I just love being in the park, the hiking, scenery, and of course the climbing. Since I'm starting to feel impatient I decided to make a throwback video from summer'08. All the footage is crap but it brings back good memories. Colorado Summer '08 from Phillip Schaal on Vimeo .

Paul Robinson interview

Image from Google A few days ago, Paul Robinson made the FA of what used to be the Rasta man vibration at the Buttermilks, Bishop. It had been a project of Paul's for years and he decided to give what is now Lucid dreaming the whopping grade of 8C+. How do you feel now afterwards? Empty or even more psyched? To tell you the truth, I feel literally exhausted. I am very psyched that I sent the line and that psyche is, I guess, what got me through the 15 hour drive home. But now that I am home, I am exhausted and have been ...
