Guess Where Swanky Will Break Down(First)? Or – A Pool to Fund Repairs

Last year, Swanky the van was brand new, to me. I bought it from a cop, and my mother(who was a nurse) once told me “Eye doctors can't see; ear doctors are deaf, and psychiatrists are crazy.” Well, I figure that line of thinking probably goes beyond the boundaries of the medical field, if you know what I mean. Now I know there are plenty of optometrists with 20/20 vision, just like most police are law-abiding citizens, but if the lies this guy told me about that van weren't a crime, I don't know what

Edward Norton's "Donate to Drink" Video features Jake Norton's Images

Edward Norton - no not my father, although his name is Edward Norton, too, and, also not Teddy Norton of Everest 1924 fame, although he, too, was Edward Norton - the amazing actor and even-more amazing social entrepreneur with his...

Happie Doesn't Have Enough to Do Already...

...and so I have added - not one - but TWO new projects to my repertoire. That's on top of the recently launched line of chalkbags under ClimbAddict Designs . The new ventures are similar, and came about when I was invited to join a team of sellers on the Etsy.com platform called Etsy Climbers. This is a group of people on Etsy who rock climb and either have shops on the site, or use the site to shop. The Team Page provides a place for you to join, if you are interested. At any rate, I was excited to join

Global Angels Baruntse 2011

Image from Google It’s now under a month till I leave for my pre-Everest expedition to climb Baruntse. At 7,129m Baruntse in the Khumbu region of Nepal is a huge undertaking, and hence perfect preparation for Everest in the spring of 2012. I have been working with Global Angels now for a year whilst in the build up to the Baruntse and Everest expeditions, and as such, have now launched my Global Angels fundraiser page in the lead up to my Baruntse climb. Global Angels, fronted by Molly Bedingfield, mother to singers ...

Mountain Rescue - how to raise funds?

In the last three days I’ve heard a few things about Mountain Rescue teams and how to raise funds for them. First, I was chatting to a friend about raising funds for a rescue team with a shortfall right now. He was trying to think of ideas to raise funds directly by increasing donations or by generating cash by business activities. Second, I was asked (as I often am) to post on my blog and retweet messages pointing at Mountain Rescue sites, or other charitable organisations. Third, I was listening to ...

Thanks

Image from Google A couple of thanks in this post. Firstly to everyone who sponsored me in the Manchester 10k, I think in total we managed to raise £300 for the Make a Wish Charity (the exact amount I'm not sure yet as some donations got posted direct). Secondly thanks to everyone who came to see Ranulph Fiennes interviewed by me at Buxton Opera House. This was Ran and my first attempt at this format and we were pleased with how it went. The main reason it was a success was down to the audience who were on fine form - it

Trailer For Jeff Lowe's Metanoia Film

Back in the winter of 1991, climber Jeff Lowe spent nine days putting up a new route on the Eiger. After completing that very difficult, and life altering, route, he named it Metanoia. No one has ever been able to duplicate that route ever since. Now, a new film is in the works that will tell the tale of that climb and the impact it had on the alpine world. Yesterday, I received a note about this film, which is scheduled to be released later this year. In that note, there was a plea for donations to help
