One-liner of the Day For every action there is an equal and opposite criticism. Route Maintenance and Trail Improvement John Weir and a group of volunteers have begun repairs on some of the approach trails. I will be featuring their work in an upcoming blog. Nik Royale is a climber and wheelchair user with progressive cerebral palsy. His biggest climbing challenge so far has been to train and put himself forward for the Mountain Leader Training (MLT) Climbing Wall Award. In this inspiring and honest short film, Equal to Everbody Else , just posted on-line by 2rays Productions, Nik explains his motivations for wanting to try and achieve the Award. Hugh Gaasch of the 12 day Mountaineering course called in from their new camp down glacier in Little switzerland. They are all having a good time and learning a ton. Patrick packs and weighs his lunch food for the expedition. He'll be heading out with guides Tim Hewette and Alex Stroud later today. Each person packs 3/4 to one pound of lunch food per day, including hot and cold drink mixes. This equals 15 to 21 pounds to carry. We have them choose their own food so they pack what they like. Here are a few "speed" tricks for big routes that are primarily multi-pitch without walking steps (those steps call for T Bloks etc., not covered here). -Use a single 70M rope to lead on. This cuts ...

I really have some mixed emotions reporting this news today and have waited in order to get my own thoughts in line.. David Tait Calls Off Double-Traverse David Tait has called off his Double-Traverse of Everest after successfully summiting from the North to the South side two days ago. I will let David explain from his own post on his Expedition Blog : We had achieved Bc to Bc at last. However, during the later part of the endless painful descent I realised two things. Firstly, I was not going to be ...
