Helmet Cams Now Stream Live Video

Image from Google I think it is safe to say that over the past few years, one of the biggest innovations in outdoor adventure has been the introduction of the helmet cam. Sure, we've had the ability to record our adventures in the past, but it was usually with bulky, heavy equipment that wasn't a lot of fun to use. But now days, rugged, inexpensive, lightweight video cameras have become the norm, and as a result, we now get amazing video, captured by professional and amateur filmmakers alike, with astounding regularity. As

Video: TimeScapes of the American Southwest

Filmmaker Tom Lowe has been shooting a new film entitled TimeScapes, which is set to make its debut soon, but ahead of its full release, he shared some of the footage a few days ago on Vimeo . Shot with a Red Epic camera, the footage is captured at four times the resolution of your HDTV, which translates to some stunning imagery to say the least. Check out a sample of his work below, which will remind you just how beautiful the American Southwest actually is. TimeScapes 4K from Tom Lowe on Vimeo .

Video: Harrowing Mountain Bike Crash

Image from Google I came across this video at Adventure Journal earlier today and thought that while it was incredibly scary it was also worth sharing. The crash that you see in the video took place during the Victorian Downhill State Series of races that are held in Australia, and while it looks brutal, we're told that the person involved in the accident was not injured. When you watch the footage however, you'll see that if that is true, they were extremely lucky. Steve Casamiro, who is the editor of Adventure Journal,

New Everest Documentary Spawns Reality Series

Image from Google A new Everest documentary entitled 40 Days at Base Camp , made its debut at the Vancouver International Film Festival last week, and will headline the Banff Mountain Film Festival next week. By all accounts, it is a gripping look at what happens on the mountain during a typical climbing season. Evidently, the film must be something special, as filmmaker Dianne Whelan has already been commissioned to return to Everest next spring to shoot an 8-part reality series on the North Side of the mountain. The show

Alex Honnold On 60 Minutes

Image from Google Many of you probably caught the episode of 60 Minutes over the weekend in which rock climber Alex Honnold was profiled. If you haven't seen it yet however, you'll find the video embedded below. Watching it Sunday evening, I thought that the piece was well done, gave viewers a good look at Alex and climbing culture, and was about as solid of a piece on climbing as you'll get from the mainstream media. Of course, it was also wonderfully shot by the gang over at Sender Films , and there is a second video, ...

The Schengen Files: A Review and Interview with Paul Robinson

Image from Google Paul Robinson has been on a sustained bouldering trip for a while now, starting in Europe, then South Africa and after that who knows. Fortunately he began recording some of the problems he has been doing in conjunction with his girlfriend Alex Kahn. I say fortunately because Paul has been somewhat under the radar in terms of video recently and there are few boulderers with better style out there right now with such an impressive ticklist. Paul also has a degree in the fine arts from the University of ...
