A blue sky ski day!

Snow has depleted however there is still good cover in the corries and high summits.

Lochnagar Friday

Shortly after midday the Corrie of Lochnagar from the col by Meikle Pap. Quite a bit more snow on the apron directly below the crag than there has been recently. Looking onto Eagle Ridge (centre) with Parallel A and B to the right. Not much evidence of ice buiding up. The temperature at the profie site at 900 metres today was plus 2 and cooling is forecast. Distant view to the North-West. Good cover high up on Ben Avon. Tap Test at the main profile site for the day. Easterly aspect. Significant amount of

CMD Arete

Image from Google Today was my final day with Stephen and Andy so we opted for a journey day where they could put together some of the skills they gathered over the last few days. We headed up over the Carn Mor Dearg arete which exposed us to some wild conditions. After getting in to the snow line it was pretty steady going up to Carn Mor Dearg, on arrival we donned our crampons and descended onto the ridge which is great fun. The wind was blowing quite hard which so goggles and face masks were essential. There was a good

Nice day for mountain travel and heather burning

Good cover remains for ski touring although patches of snow have to be linked together to gain the higher ground. Today the gamekeepers were out burning aged heather . Greyness!

looking toward Cairngorm from Loch Morlich Colder conditions have halted the thaw and preserved the good cover, especially at plateau level - colder conditions over the weekend will refreeze the snowpack.

Spring like, Cloudy and Hot !

Snowprofile site SE Cairngorm Very poor visibility in the morning but clearing in the afternoon - a muggy hot day - snowpack is disappearing fast low down - but still a good cover at plateau levels.

Spring ?! Warm and Windy

Northern Corries Coirrie an t Sneachda Very dry winds have reduced snowpack but it remains fairly dense and compact - good cover throughout.

A Change in the Weather !

Large cornice over Jacobs ladder climb Coire an t Sneachda Clouds pouring into Sneachda Snowpack has improved a lot in stability but some weaknesses remain good cover on the plateau. Wet weather and very warm for tomorrow !

Lochnagar

It was a cracking day with light winds and plenty of sun. in Lochnagar, rock routes look a bit blacker lower down with some very white exits! Gullies have plenty in them. There is still good cover of snow above 850 metres. After a drop in the freezing level the snow cover is very firm. Black Spout still full. West Gully still holding ice. Summit, looking towards the Cairngorms. Paul Noble
