These photos were taken on Glas Maol today. There is still good snow cover especially on Easterly aspects. If you look beyond, large accumulations of snow can be seen in the high corries. Wind exposed areas such as the top of Glas Maol are bare of snow and frozen hard!

Good snow cover remains on the plateau, which has become quite firm above 1000 metres. Looking across to Mheadhoin

Winter has arrived. Quite a few teams up the Ben today. Good snow cover above 750m, although pretty hard going till you get above 1000m. Looking up No5 Gully and the Curtain to give you an idea of the ice build up. This has been slowly thawing for a few days now. Looking up towards Coire na Ciste and Tower Ridge Looking up towards No3 Gully Buttress

Good snow cover and a windless day on the summits. When ski touring up steeper and icy hard snow surfaces harscheisen (ski crampons) can be fiited to skis.

Its still very cold with snow showers. Everything on the plateau was completely white due to the good snow cover and mist, so we couldn't see very much but we did have one friendly visit from this Snow Bunting. Today's pit was dug on the South side of Cairngorm .

The avalanche observer was well looked after by Braemar Mountain Rescue Team. Thanks. Pretty good snow cover on the plateau. The snow profile was done in about 60cm of snow.
