Photo: Lukasz Warzecha On February 8th, myself, Andy Turner and filmmaker Paul Diffley will be speaking at the Royal Geographical Society in London about the Longhope route. NASA Outlines The Future Of Space Exploration

Image from Google Earlier this year the Space Shuttle program was put on mothballs , effectively closing the book on an era of manned space travel. While it was sad to see it go, it was time. The Shuttle was an aging piece of equipment that was long over due for a replacement. The problem is, with an ongoing economic crisis causing budget cuts, NASA doesn't have a new system ready to go, and it will be years before they are ready to launch the Shuttle's replacement. That hasn't stopped them from preparing for the future of

As regular readers of this blog know, Alan has been climbing Everest as the third leg of his 7 Summits for Alzheimer's

Looking up the Nose of El Cap

On pitch 3 looking up the wall makes it look pretty easy, but there’s a real problem with perspective here. For those unfamiliar, the line follows a crack system up to the small triangular roof - close up below. Finally looking down from near the top, I still think it’s not as big as I thought. At 5.8 C2, it’s technically possible for me one day, with the biggest hurdle for me being getting there for the right conditions. Original images from ukclimbing.com .
