The biggest mistake, by Stevie, the accident Haston.

Hydrophobia attack You know every body thinks they are unique, but there is nothing unique about most of us. Do you have a tail? What you don’t! What makes you good at something? Is it hard work, or that special something? Let me tell ya, that special something is just hard work, it aint your inherent genius, cos you aint special. Hard work is actually the key, try planting a field, try harvesting, try ffing anything for that matter. I love running not because it is exciting, or ‘extreme man’, but

Recent La Rambla, ramble, Stevie Haston.

Image from Google Enzo Oddo (French) does the Rambla 9a+, he is 16 now, not bad at all. Some good French lads cranking at the moment, but as with most countries the industry is not supporting the climbers, and climbing is not reflecting the standards of these fine athletes. Ondra continues to dominate the field but has unfortunately chosen to pursue bouldering for a short while. His success at this is not a great surprise to many given his brilliant background but his recent flash of a Font 8b+ standard is not moving the

The Alpine Bouldering Season Wrap-up

Image from Google I think it is safe to say that the regular bouldering season is finished as of about 12 noon this last Tuesday. Currently most of the Front Range is under about 8 inches or more of snow. I made one last-ditch effort to try European Human Being on Monday afternoon but was unsuccessful, make that completely out of it altogether. Angie Payne, who was trying Freaks of the Industry, was also unsuccessful that evening. To top it off, just as I was at Bear Lake, having navigated every stretch of ice successfully

Two Ads

Image from Google In the last couple of weeks two ads have appeared, both with essentially the same theme. The first is a short video for Verve made by Carlo Traversi , elite boulderer and routesetter at the Spot, and the other is a co-production of Organic , Pusher and Revolution . (Full Disclosure: I have received gear from both Organic and Verve and am definitely a fan. I am a sponsored climber for Moon Climbing .) Here's the video: The Philosophy Of Verve from Carlo Traversi on Vimeo . Here's the ad, described by Clark

Interview with Kevin Jorgeson, President of Professional Climbers International

There has been a lot of buzz about the public launching of a new professional climber's advocacy group, especially with its website now available. Professional Climbers International is the first organization of its kind that I am aware of specifically formed to speak on behalf of and provide resources for climbers who are receiving compensation from climbing companies. This development has not been received entirely positively by all.A media partnership announcement posted by the Climbingnarc caused some

SIZE MATTERS?

by Gavin Heverly Ok. We arent delusional. We know our walls are not the tallest in the industry. Or even in the Boston area for that matter. But what we WILL brag about is our route-setting. Maxim Zolotukhin, our head route-setter is probably the most passionately obsessed route-setter in the country. And I am not [...]

The Trade Show 2010 and UBC Competition Wrapup

Image from Google As many of you already know, last week was the Outdoor Retailer Trade Show in Salt Lake City.  The Show is a very busy collection of outdoor big wigs and professionals in the industry all buying, selling, and schmoozing.  It is a real shit show and quite a sight with hundreds of booths set up [...]
