Get Your Gear Fix!

Image from Google If you've been looking for a gear fix in recent days, I have a couple of articles that are sure to help out. First up, we have this story , over at Outside Online , that comes our way via the Gear Junkie himself, which lists the best equipment for adventure racing. Some of the items that make the list include the USA AS-1 Backpack from Out There which has been called the best AR pack ever (My review is coming soon!), and a new watch from Suunto that GJ calls "mandatory gear." Kalymnos 2011 - Trip Report 4 (Grande Grotta and Arhi)

Hey y'all! Let's get into the pics. Day five of climbing was in the mighty Grande Grotta and surrounds. This massive cave is the most famous sector on the island. Kurt's been experimenting with the GoPro capturing footage while climbing. I've often thought of headcam shots as "vomit footage" because the camera is swinging around wildly, but he's captured a few cool short grabs which I will certainly try to get into the trip video. This is a newish route in the Grande Grotta called Happy Girlfriend. It ...

For the second year in a row, they've handed out awards to their picks for the top paddlers around in categories such as "Best Male," "Best Female," and the always popular "Best Drop." The video below highlights those winners in grand

Glenda and I on the summit of Sgurr Mhaim On the ridge to the descent path Yesterday it was time to keep a promise and go on a Ben Nevis litter pick arranged by my friend Sarah who is a Conservation Officer for the John Muir Trust http://www.jmt.org/ . We headed to the summit in less ...

Then this post is for you, as gear reports continue to hit the web, each of them delivering glimpses of some of the unique and tantalizing products that will make our outdoor adventure better in a few months time. The Gear Junkie continues to do his usual great post-expo wrap-up with great information on everything that he saw in Salt Lake City.

Cheating in Climbing

Image from Google The interweb is abuzz recently with items that touch on the issues of cheating in climbing. Jamie Emerson started off with a post on steroids and then followed up with a discussion of Evil Backwards being altered and made easier than the V14 it started out as. Andrew Bisharat, in his post on "Climbers Who Cheat," asks the question 'Is dropping weight in order to succeed on a hard ascent “cheating”?' And so on... While I would not make the argument that cheating doesn't exist in climbing, I wonder if
