...and so I have added - not one - but TWO new projects to my repertoire. That's on top of the recently launched line of chalkbags under ClimbAddict Designs . The new ventures are similar, and came about when I was invited to join a team of sellers on the Etsy.com platform called Etsy Climbers. This is a group of people on Etsy who rock climb and either have shops on the site, or use the site to shop. The Team Page provides a place for you to join, if you are interested. At any rate, I was excited to join

I am leaving the UK tomorrow, barring any complications from volcanic ash, and since the world has not ended, it is back to life in Colorado in a short while. The Welsh portion of the trip finished with a day on the slate quarries and an early run/hike up Mount Snowdon before heading to Sheffield. Slate is a very interesting surface/medium on which to climb as it looks very steep and difficult from below yet upon actually climbing you discover that typically the angle is 80 degrees and many small sharp ...

Keith had previously revelled about his experience on an E5 called “Out of my Mind”, that last year he had tried and backed off from after getting out of his mind with fear and pump. The tide was in, “Ghost Train” looked even wetter than before, and so warm up routes were in short supply – time to get a little out there... The first challenge of the day was to access the belay stance, involving a timed dash across a wave washed platform. At times the waves were mellow, barely covering your feet,

In the world of extreme sports there is a short list of technologically enhanced products capable of giving you super-human capabilities: wing-suits, oxygen tanks, beer. I’d put mountain bike shoes made with Five Ten Stealth Rubber in the top 10. Easily.
The tacky material’s ability to absorb shock and keep your feet connected to platform [...]

Later today the Space Shuttle Discovery is scheduled to make its final launch before the shuttle program is mothballed by NASA. In honor of that historic event, CNN.com has put together his great video which shows all 132 shuttle launches in just 132 seconds. You can also read their story on the event by clicking here . The space shuttle has been a pivotal part of space exploration not just for the U.S., but for the entire world, for years, and I'm a bit sad to see it come to an end. NASA is busy working

Y esterday, Josh Wharton won the mixed climbing competition at the Ouray Ice Festival for the third year in a row. Wharton was one of only two competitors to finish the route. He topped out nearly six minutes faster than second place finisher Will Mayo, who reached the anchors with only 18 seconds left before the 20-minute cutoff. January 6-9 marked the Ouray Ice Festival's 16th year. Held at Colorado's Ouray Ice Park, the festival is the biggest international gathering of ice climbers in the world. In ...

Well - the van has been bought and the modification to a road trip rig is in progress! Here are some photos of the "Before/After" work to get the sleep/storage platform in: First, some pictures of Swanky, or Senor Swanky, as the van is more formally called, in general: So, Ken, who worked as a trailhead assistant at the Mohonk Preserve this year, offered to help me out. He said he "had a few tools, and though he wasn't the greatest" carpenter.....hahaha. The guy did SUCH an awesome job! The platform has

I write about a host of ambitious expeditions and projects here on The Adventure Blog, but here's one that is on a completely different level. Welsh adventurer Richard Parks has set quite a goal for himself. He plans to reach the top of all of the Seven Summits, as well as both the North and South Pole, in just seven months time. He's calling his expedition the 737 Challenge , which stands for 7 Summits, 3 Poles, 7 Months. Mt. Everest, the highest mountain in the world, is sometimes called the "third ...

We are super stoked to have our film from Nepal “As It Happens” a staff pick on vimeo.com! For us being recognized on this platform of creatives is a huge honor. Although we often contribute such works to film festivals and give the audience the full cinema experience we also believe in the value of sharing content online. So here you go, the full 16 min film... Cheers, ~reo
