It wasn't all just about fun in the sun however, as the trip was hosted by Microsoft, who assembled a group of travel writers to give us the scoop on some fantastic tools and laptops that could be of benefit for travelers of all types. Some of those tools included cloud storage service Skydrive , which is a great way to share video and photos from your trip, and Movie Maker and

Keith Ladzinski

Image from Google For Keith Ladzinski, the pursuit of photography has been an insatiable passion since 1995. Documenting an experience from behind the camera that can often only be found through adventurous travel, volatile weather conditions, long hard days, and the friends you rely on in sketchy situations to simply get on location. It's a culmination and a full package, one that has been deeply rewarding and unforgettable. To create images that make an impression, capture a fleeting moment, and bring the viewer on ...

Global Angels Baruntse 2011

Image from Google It’s now under a month till I leave for my pre-Everest expedition to climb Baruntse. At 7,129m Baruntse in the Khumbu region of Nepal is a huge undertaking, and hence perfect preparation for Everest in the spring of 2012. I have been working with Global Angels now for a year whilst in the build up to the Baruntse and Everest expeditions, and as such, have now launched my Global Angels fundraiser page in the lead up to my Baruntse climb. Global Angels, fronted by Molly Bedingfield, mother to singers ...

The Climbing Dictionary

While I was at Outdoor Retailer, I picked up a couple of books, one a memoir by Margo Talbot, the other a compilation of climbing terms by Matt Samet. I plan on writing more about the first book later but this review is about Matt's book. First a couple of disclaimers. Matt is a friend of mine and indeed has been interviewed on this blog. Plus his book is published by Mountaineers Books, the same company that is publishing my book. So naturally I would like to start off by saying that this book is amazing.

Mammut Eiger Extreme Range New for 2011/12

Mammut is synonymous with quality, being Swiss though, I don’t suppose you would expect too much else! From their humble beginnings as a rope manufacturer almost 150 years ago, they have grown into a multi million pound international Sports Group who’s product range encompasses mountaineering, ski sports and outdoor sports. Over the years Mammut has [...]

More Gear From OR!

Image from Google As promised, I have more gear news and reports from Outdoor Retailer. With as much stuff that is shown at the expo, it is nearly impossible to see it all, even if you're there open-to-close, each day of the event. Instead, we have to content ourselves to relying on the Internet to satiate our gear lust and help us decide how to spend our money. First, I've written and published a preview of my own today at Gadling.com . It has five of the items that I saw at the OR that were particularly impressive to me.
