This past weekend, I was at Mesa Rim Climbing and Fitness Center in San Diego, CA for the PCI Clinic with Daniel Woods, Ethan Pringle and Angie Payne. What a roster! The participants were PSYCHED and the community showed tremendous support and energy. Daniel, Angie and Ethan did an amazing job instructing, once again demonstrating that the world's best climbers can also be world class instructors. "I was really impressed with all the instructors ability to articulate advanced forms of movement, complex ...

It is some 45 years since John Harlin fell to his death from the Eiger Nordwand in 1966, however the pain and power of the event still looms large in the psyche of Sir Chris Bonnington. On Thursday 1st December I had the pleasure of hearing him speak on the subject at the Royal Geographical [...] The Eiger – Triumph and Tragedy, and an Evening at the RGS is a post from: Rock Climbing UK , an online UK climbing magazine, written BY UK climbers FOR UK climbers. On Wednesday morning I made an early start to head to Newtyle Quarry. I had new prosthetics to try out that had recently been fitted to my new Petzl Nomics and a new pair of Lowa Ice Comp boots to use. There was a good team at the cave, Greg , Mike, James, Fiona and Alan so there was plenty of psyche and some inspiring efforts from the guys on their respective projects. All went well on the kit front, thankfully!! Testing my new toys on Fast Furious, Photo-Alan Fox I stayed at friends in Fort William that

Chuck Fryberger has been on a mission to inject some style into climbing and climbing films. I enjoyed some of the mega footage from his last film Core and was eager to see his latest climbing flick ‘The Scene’. Chuck has based himself in various modern centres where the world’s best climbers seem to be gathering right now such as Innsbruck, Catalunya, Boulder and various other areas around the USA. There are some quite nice interviews with the best climbers of the moment talking about what fires ...

Although I had visited Canada briefly in the spring of 2010, when I returned this summer, my host Scott Milton quickly discovered I basically knew nothing of the place. Within hours of my arrival he was inundated with questions about his homeland; 'What on earth is a 'Looney'? 'What the hell does the giant 'N' sticker on all these cars mean?' 'Why am I suddenly everyone's 'Buddy'?' 'Does it ever stop raining?' He patiently informed me about the dollar coin, new drivers, Canadianisms and the annual ...

Only a few days to go until Kalymnos 2011, so time to get some training in on something steep. Frey Yule's route Evel Knievel 29/8a at Coolum was a likely target. It starts up Evil Wears No Pants 30/8a+ with a burly, 70 degree overhung, 11 move boulder to a good kneebar before cutting a traverse directly left for several bodylengths and then a transition back to "up" climbing to finish up the last three or so bolts of the route Ground Control . I'd been on the route in March this year while conditions were

I'm back home after flying the final leg of the whole trip. Yesterday was a really intense flight--windy, powerful air, cool terrain, and a flight I've dreamed of doing for at least ten years. Boom, the end of an adventure. Today it's way too windy up high to fly; I had incredibly good luck that yesterday was just on the edge of flyable, just. The screen grab of the Spot tracking page shows the basic line, but it doesn't show the waiting in the air, analyzing, or the wind... I'll post some thoughts, more
