Add caption There was a bit too much trash in my bachelor flat, and it was starting to smell a bit, so I very sensibly thought I’d take the trash out. Well a few days later when I finally did take the trash out it was raining, so I got the turn-ups of my trousers wet, as I wore slippers instead of shoes, and my bare bake got an unexpected wash, which admittedly was a plus. Anyway, thinking about what a tosser I was, I then for no accountable reason threw my keys with the trash into the recycling bin. ...

This summer is probably going to see me involved in some climbing filming, either for some web clips, or for a slot at the Kendal film festival, or maybe a festival next year. I have a few climbing projects on the boil at the moment, and hopefully I will get a couple of them ticked [...]

Posted By Steve Mc Clure the 2011-07-01 Climbers are an obsessed type of people. Wed climb every day if we could. Having a family pushes me into doing stuff that maybe I wouldnt otherwise do, like holidays to places where there is no climbing. This is no bad thing. There is way more to life than climbing, and actually Id probably be rather sad if at the end of my days all I can see over my years is a load of crimps and slopers. Anyway, we need the odd rest too. So I was more than pleased to be ...

Posted By Steve Mc Clure the 2011-06-07 Or the God Of all Traverses? Im not the fittest of climbers, but its not often that I turn up at a cliff and only manage one route before crawling off exhausted! But the mega traverse at Craig-y-Longridge is way longer than the average route! Craig-y-Longridge is one of those places that as a climber you just have to visit. Maybe not the most amazing cliff, but its got history and a share of fame. It was almost lost recently before the good old BMC bought it

Ahh, the infamous rest day. Kirsty, May and Kirill had heard about a nice day hike. Just a few hours. Good-o. See ya guys, have a nice walk. Seven hours later, three broken bodies trudge up the stairs of the Upskill apartment with tales of endless scree slopes and spiky bushes. Glad I stayed at home. Must say, I'm not a fan of hiking unless it leads to a supercrag. Here's a couple pics from the adventure... Kirill points the way Walking the endless ridgeline The next morning was a crisp one, and saw us ...

Looking back on my first post on bouldering in Chaos Canyon, lack of enthusiasm for the area was clearly evident. Well, yesterday I was back up there with a few others and, needless to say, I've warmed up to the area quite a bit. Despite the hour plus drive and decently long hike, this area just draws you in. As with anywhere, it took a little while to get used to the rock, but I think I mostly underestimated myself and the quality of the bouldering. We left Boulder a bit after 8am, lucked into a great ...

Last year Cornish activist Mark Edwards climbed a new route called First and Last Wall at Lands End, Cornwall.
Sheffield based climber Nic Sellers has just made a flying visit to Cornwall to repeat the route. Here he takes up the story:
"I was appalled to see a series of five blatantly drilled 1cm x 3cm x 3cm slots evenly spaced down the route..."

I've mentioned here before that I am an avid runner. I run nearly every day of the week, and when I force myself to take a "rest day", I generally feel like an underachieving slug. But my personal mental instabilities aside, I find going for a run helps to reduce stress, keeps me fit, and is good training for other activities. Over the past year or so, I've been reading a lot about barefoot running, and the benefits that it delivers. I've seen converts to the style raving about how much they enjoy it, and

The 25th annual Ride the Rockies cycling event got underway yesterday in Grand Junction, Colorado, and will continue over the course of this week, with more than 2000 riders covering 532 miles of road, passing some of the state's most spectacular scenery as they go, including Colorado National Monument and the Grand Mesa. The annual ride, which is sponsored by the Denver Post , has earned itself a reputation as a challenging, yet fun experience, for all involved. The route varies each year, and this one is
