This past weekend, I was at Mesa Rim Climbing and Fitness Center in San Diego, CA for the PCI Clinic with Daniel Woods, Ethan Pringle and Angie Payne. What a roster! The participants were PSYCHED and the community showed tremendous support and energy. Daniel, Angie and Ethan did an amazing job instructing, once again demonstrating that the world's best climbers can also be world class instructors. "I was really impressed with all the instructors ability to articulate advanced forms of movement, complex ...

An Italian design firm called LEAPfactory has unveiled a new conceptual design for a portable pod that would give high altitude mountaineers a more robust structure to live in while on long expeditions. The so called LEAP Pod would reportedly provide all the comforts of home, while also going easy on the environment. According to the designers, the pod would be delivered to base camp on a mountain via helicopter, and would offer living quarters, a sleeping space, bathrooms, and plenty of storage for gear.

LE BOA: It was one of those longterm projects, which you never know if it will go for sure. I started trying it two years ago. It was just after completing "L`Isola che no c`é". I enjoy having this kind of projects where you can go back over and over again, and slowly, try after try, you start to visualize the complete picture of it. It is a sitdown start on a big snake like looking structure, which also gives the name to the problem. Some powerfull moves on pockets underclings that bring you to a tricky

The rumors are true. Plans are underway to build a UIAA approved ice climbing structure in Bozeman, Montana. This would give Bozeman the ability to host the 2013 Ice Climbing World Cup and provide an approved training and qualifying facility for American ice climbers looking to compete in the 2014 Sochi Olympics. Local Chris Hamilton told Alpinist.com that when completed the structure would be the only one in North America to meet UIAA standards for ice climbing competitions. With ice climbing as a demo

The bold way and the old way... © Alex Messenger There's definitely something in the saying; there's bold climbers and old climbers but not old bold climbers. A number of recent events, like Franco Cookson decking from 20m , and finding the Malham video , got me thinking quite a lot about how my climbing's changed over the last 15 years and how the UK (or perhaps UKC) perceives trad climbing. The UK has something that much of the rest of the world doesn't have, that isn't trad climbing, you can see plenty

There has been a lot of buzz about the public launching of a new professional climber's advocacy group, especially with its website now available. Professional Climbers International is the first organization of its kind that I am aware of specifically formed to speak on behalf of and provide resources for climbers who are receiving compensation from climbing companies. This development has not been received entirely positively by all.A media partnership announcement posted by the Climbingnarc caused some

Here's an interesting story from a few days back. British newspaper the Telegraph is reporting that historians believe that they may have found King Arthur's round table , claiming that it isn't a table at all, but instead a large amphitheater capable of seating over 1000 people. The Arthurian legend has always said that the round table was a place where Arthur and his knights would gather to discuss their bold deeds, plot strategy, and debate matters of state. Located in Camelot, Arthur's mythical ...
